Likah arrived home to be my husband’s new pheasant dog and by opening day at 10 months of age she was quartering and retreiveing with the big dogs. She hunts upland or waterfowl in excess of 25 times a season and before 2 yrs of age was invited to hunt in 3 Calcutta's competing for prize money against many teams with pro trained dogs and their shooters for the most pheasants. Outside of hunting season we try to venture into a few field and performance venues as time permits. She LOVES agility, obstacles, jumps effortlessly, is very fast and light on her feet so I will try to keep up in our new sport. She also gives natural attention and loves heads-up heeling with no formal training so formal obedience may be in her future. She is a very fast learner and it doesn't seem to matter what performance venue we are trying, she just loves to do the work and is very forgiving of my mistakes We are working towards her Senior Hunter (SH) titles with just the training aid of a clicker (collar beep). In field training she is an exceptional marking dog, if she doesn’t step on it she establishes tight hunts. She has a flying water entry, is a fast and focused retriever in the water , will dive for a wounded duck and tackle a greater Canada goose (weighing up to 17lbs). Likah has an exceptional Golden temperament, she loves to cuddle, is very affectionate, confident, settles well in the house, very willing to please, loves to interact and play with other dogs of any age and adores the kids and grandkids. She has a wonderful Golden expression, pleasing head, med-dark eye and correct scissors bite. Likah stands 21 1/2” tall and weighs 63lb. She is in excellent working condition, carries a drip dry moderate wavy coat with ample feathering for a hunting retriever, has great muscle tone but would be considered light on bone for the show ring. Speaking of show ring, this girl loves to be up on the table to be groomed, brushed and pampered, she will hold out a paw for her nail trim! She brings a lot of joy and laughter to our lives and is a very easy keeper because she is a balanced (emotionally and physically) healthy and happy Golden Retriever. I had the pleasure of meeting Ace at his very first field seminar and he has all the drive, trainability and confidence to take his owners on the journey to any field title they would like to pursue. We would hunt over this dog anytime and not only was his retrieve & bird desire impressive but his temperament around other dogs and people is outstanding. Here are some comments from Ace's owner, Phyliss Covino:: At 24" tall (at the withers) and 74 pounds, Ace is a moderate, handsome dog with a strong topline, powerful movement, strong rear assembly and correct tail set and carriage. He has a beautiful head and neck with a very sweet expression, medium brown eyes, dark pigment and full dentition with a scissiors bite. His coat is wash-n-wear, sligthly wavy, medium gold with moderate feathering and sheds dirt and burrs easily. Ace carries good bone but is also very athletic, jumps effortlessly, moves well coming and going and has lovely side gait. He received his GRCA Conformation Certificate Assessment (CCA) on his first attempt with qualifying scores from breeder-judges Janice Provanzano, Cheryl Blair & Susan Petermann. Ace loves to work and is always willing to please. He competes in agility, rally, obedience and is currently training for field events, he loves them all! Ace has received many placements with high scores in Rally including a perfect 100. He is trained through utility and recently started competing in Novice Obedience, taking 2nd place in class for his 1st leg. He also has his Agility Excellent titles in Jumpers, Standard & Fast (AX, AXJ, XF) and completed his Excellent Fast title with a 1st place. We are currently training for field events and Ace shows exceptional talent in the field (marking, drive, courage, and perserverance) so we are very excited about our new sport. Ace's pedigree combines top conformation, obedience and field lines. Not only does he represent this pedigree well but his littermates are also lovely and talented. At four years of age his littermates are very strong field competitors with two Master Hunter (MH) siblings, one Grand Master Hunter (GMH), one ALL Age Qualified (***) and the others are all doing well in mulitipe venues incuding agility and tracking. All littermates that have had their health checks done cleared hips, elbows, eyes and hearts. Ace is always friendly and good natured with other dogs, including intact males & puppies, wonderful with people and takes new situations, people and places in stride. Both Likah & Ace come from a long line of wonderful producers in both field and conformation venues with good longevity in the pedigree. Ace's conformation qualities match very well with Likah's, they are definitely "type to type". This is a proven pedigree combination and we are confident the pairing will produce intelligent, good looking Goldens that are great hunting dogs, easy going family companions with Golden temperaments and biddable working retrievers in any venue.
