RIO RANCH...
was originally a Charlois Cattle Ranch just west of High River in Alberta Canada and home to the World Grand Champion Charlois Bull "Knockout". It was also home to my husband Dwight and his best friend and hunting companion, a Golden Retriever named "Janiero" (Jenner's High River Queen). She was the heart and soul of the ranch and to this day Dwight's hunting buddies still talk about her hunting style, courage and desire to please.
Time passed by and the cattle ranch was sold but the name Rio Ranch will always be with us.
My name is Barbara Loree and I married into this extended hunting family in 1996. Dwight along with his three boys, daughter, son-in-law and three grandsons all were upland and waterfowl hunters. We only had an older lab named Casey so the search was on for a new dog and the breed favorite of the family was a golden retriever. (a tribute to Janiero who I never had a chance to meet).
We live in Calgary, Alberta and have a vacation home on Vancouver Island, B.C. Hunting, fishing and travelling took up a lot of our spare time. Our new bundle of joy and energy needed to be a good traveller, good hunter, people pleaser, like boats, water and be a best friend to our old lab.
We found a pup and as goldens do, she has changed our lives forever.
